DOC Central Training Facilities: Window Glazing & Wall Restoration Upgrades

Project Overview

The DC Department of Corrections (DOC) Central Training Facilities, located at 1901 E St SE in Washington, DC, required targeted upgrades to its building envelope after structural defects and deteriorating weather seals were identified in the exterior precast structural system. These conditions were uncovered during Chiaramonte Construction Company's earlier work at the facility, and addressing them became essential to completing the restoration of the building. The DC Department of General Services (DGS), on behalf of DOC, engaged Chiaramonte Construction Company through a sole source procurement, recognizing CCC's involvement since the project's inception and its detailed knowledge of the building's existing conditions.

Our Role & Scope of Work

CCC is providing architectural and engineering services along with construction for the window glazing and wall restoration upgrades. The scope centers on the design and renovation of the exterior precast structural system, correcting structural defects and restoring the weather seals that protect the building. As the contractor familiar with the site's structural conditions, sequencing constraints, and operational requirements, CCC is able to carry the work forward without disrupting previously completed work or active DOC operations.

Restoring the structural integrity and weather-tightness of the building's exterior protects this public investment and helps ensure the facility remains safe and functional for years to come.
